The Ancestor Project- Ghana

The Ancestor Project ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation in Ghana, die darauf abzielt, afrikanische Jugendliche zu stärken und zu bilden, indem sie den Dialog zwischen Kreativen und Teilnehmern fördert.   Ein zentrales Ziel ist es, zum Erhalt und zur Förderung des materiellen und immateriellen afrikanischen Kulturerbes beizutragen.   Gegründet wurde das Projekt 2006 als kulturelle Bewegung und wurde 2019 offiziell als gemeinnützige Organisation registriert.   Seitdem hat es zahlreiche Bildungs-, Empowerment- und Kulturprogramme initiiert.

Eine der bemerkenswertesten Initiativen ist das Nkyinkyim Museum in Ada, Ghana, dessen Herzstück die international anerkannte Nkyinkyim Installation ist, geschaffen vom Gründer des Projekts, Kwame Akoto-Bamfo.   Diese Installation dient dem Gedenken an die Opfer des transatlantischen Sklavenhandels und trägt zur Bewahrung der afrikanischen Geschichte bei.  

Das Team des Ancestor Projects besteht aus verschiedenen Fachleuten, darunter Senior Sculptor Kwame Akoto-Bamfo, Architektin Afua Asantewaa Temeng und Civil Engineer Dominic Nana Osei Baafi.   Gemeinsam arbeiten sie daran, das afrikanische Kulturerbe durch Kunst und Bildung zu bewahren und zu fördern.

The Ancestor Project is a non-profit organisation in Ghana that aims to empower and educate African youth by promoting dialogue between creatives and participants. A central aim is to contribute to the preservation and promotion of tangible and intangible African cultural heritage. The project was founded in 2006 as a cultural movement and was officially registered as a non-profit organisation in 2019. Since then, it has initiated numerous educational, empowerment and cultural programmes.

One of the most notable initiatives is the Nkyinkyim Museum in Ada, Ghana, the centrepiece of which is the internationally recognised Nkyinkyim Installation, created by the founder of the project, Kwame Akoto-Bamfo. This installation commemorates the victims of the transatlantic slave trade and contributes to the preservation of African history.

The Ancestor Project team consists of various professionals, including senior sculptor Kwame Akoto-Bamfo, architect Afua Asantewaa Temeng and civil engineer Dominic Nana Osei Baafi. Together they are working to preserve and promote African cultural heritage through art and education.
